Handcrafted Native-Style Flutes of Heirloom Quality

Each Kodiak flute is individually built by hand from exotic hardwoods — not mass-produced — and tuned for clarity, balance, and a tone that stirs the soul.
Here The SoundView The Collection

The Difference You Can Hear and Feel

A Kodiak Flute is not mass-produced — it’s individually crafted, mathematically voiced, and personally tuned by hand. Each one carries its own visual and tonal fingerprint. When you hold one, you feel its density and balance. When you play it, you hear clarity and warmth that no factory can replicate.

Premium Exotic Hardwoods

Caribbean Rosewood, Padauk, Tigerwood, Sapele, Purpleheart, and Black Limba — dense tonewoods chosen for resonance, stability, and grain beauty.

TruStone & Custom Acrylic Accents

Hand-turned and polished for contrast and durability. Each pattern is unique — no two flutes are ever alike.

Precision Voicing

Every bore and sound hole is balanced using true acoustic ratios then hand-tuned by ear for concert accuracy and effortless playability.
  • Balanced tone across every octave
  • Smooth, forgiving breath response
  • Limited builds — no mass production
  • Backed by a personal satisfaction guarantee

Tone That Speaks for Itself

The sound of a Kodiak Flute is its own best salesman. Hear the depth of Padauk, the warmth of Caribbean Rosewood, and the power of Purpleheart. Each instrument is tested and voiced until it sings true.

“This is a wonderful flute. The tone is beautiful and the craftsmanship is excellent. Would highly recommend..” — chcac

Built by Hand. Tuned by Ear. Signed by the Maker.

I’m Steve Scott, the maker behind Kodiak Flutes. Each instrument starts as a solid block of exotic hardwood and is shaped, voiced, and finished entirely by hand. I don’t take orders — every flute is built until it’s ready, then offered for purchase. When it’s gone, there won’t be another just like it.

Featured by collectors and musicians across the U.S., every flute leaves my bench personally tested, signed, and ready to play.

Handcrafted Flutes — One-of-a-Kind & Ready to Own

Each Kodiak Flute is started, voiced, and finished individually. Availability is limited — when a flute is purchased, it’s gone for good. The next instrument begins from raw wood, shaped into its own unique voice.

What makes the flute "Premium" over others:
  • Expensive Exotic Hardwoods: This flute body is hand crafted from Osage Orange Wood. Exotic BlackHeart Insert. Tru-Stone Black Matrix Insert. These hardwoods are difficult to work with but produce a great tone. (competitors often use inexpensive woods such as Cedar/Pine and can be more easily damaged and lack the added weight and solid feel of our flutes).
  • Real Deer Skin Lace - Not just strips of leather. 3 separate groups to provide a great visual focus used on this flute to create a nice contrast and to insure a tight Totem Seal (The elasticity of Deer Skin lace provides a noticeable seal when used on totem)
  • Tru-Stone Accents - Though difficult to cut, these produce a unique feature on each flute we use them on. This flute features a Black Matrix Tru-Stone accent end of flute body. Tru-stone is made up primarily of real stones that are bonded together with a special acrylic resine.
  • Tight tolerances - Each flute is hand-crafted to strict tolerances. We don't use a router in any portion of the build. Each of our flute bodies are cut from a single plank of hardwood cut in half to provide a clean grain alignment. Once all the internal chambers have been crafted they two are sealed back together under high pressure creating a tight lasting bond.
  • Kodiak flutes are individually turned on a lathe by a craftsman making them each unique.
  • Finish - There are approximately 6 coats of Clear Water Based Poly applied.
  • Each flute is tuned at 72 Degrees with regulated humidity.
  • Each Premium Flute takes about 2 weeks to fully craft and assemble.
NOTE: Pictures are of the exact item you will receive.
Flute is branded with Kodiak Flute Logo and the Flute Key of F# engraved in the body. This branding is under the Totem Strap. You can view it images.
If you are looking for an heirloom quality flute this could be the flute for you. If you are simply looking for something to learn on and don't have an appreciation for these unique costly hardwoods, considering others offers is a definite option. We simply can't produce these inexpensively because the material alone before labor cost is higher than what others offer their lower end flutes for.
Signature branding and key are engraved under totem. These are under the Totem Straps so they don't stand out as much.
All Kodiak Flutes are Produced in the USA. All wood is ethically sourced and is kiln dried.
We offer several types of shipping. We typically ship within 24 business hours of payment. Weekends are not considered business days. Kodiak Flutes has been producing flutes since 2007 and has many happy customers. Take a look at our feedback.
